Sit down and write it out. A word given to me when thoughts are jumbled and thinking confused. We study, we listen, we ponder, and we draw conclusions, but can it be spoken in a succinct manner? Sometimes when I would hear a recording of things I had spoken to a group I found myself wondering who it was that was doing the talking. People would approach me afterward and state that what they heard was just for them. Internally I wonder what was said that struck such a cord within their own mind or perhaps better stated, consistent with something they had personally been dealing with. Sometimes I would ask what it was that triggered such reaction but most times I would respond with something like “well that’s good” and go on my way.
A question may be asked then who was it that was speaking to that soul? Was it really me a presence with a mouth exposing concept or so many words or was it someone or something else with knowledge of just what that person needed at that particular time? Could the Holy Spirit have been providing insight to a person with a particular need or question and using a man unawares as the means of delivery? Can an Ass recognize Christ while the Prophet acts dumbfounded? If our God is in all places at any given time can He then be far from his Saint? Does he not know of our need and our desires before we ask? And do we ask? Many times we do not ask for reasons known only by the purveyor of the need for various reasons not the least of which is pride. It then is comforting to learn that sometimes God can and does answer through another giving the listener food for thought and support for an action in word or deed that advances the process. Makes me think of God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.
The Lord Jesus, made it clear upon his departure that he would send us help in the form of the Holy Spirit whom he said would guide us into all truth. The Holy Spirit, the one who is within and yet without and able to use whatever means he deems appropriate to bring the message across to one in quest for something and further knows the proper medium to use that is uniquely situated for the recipient intended. This potential does indeed live in people and it is wonderful when God chooses to bless another through you the speaker, but normally will not fill you in on the particulars of the matter. Messages are conveyed through speaking, writing, signaling, expression and silence among others. Words however, are potent however sent and as pointed out carry great power. My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
So then, we do serve the Lord in various and sundry ways, and it could be that at any given moment God has chosen you to help someone through something you say or do that invigorates them giving something they need at that given hour, and many times you will never know it. Unfortunately, there is the adverse affect as well if our words are not uplifting and spoken in love. For sure hurtful and spiteful words do not come from the Lord and I dare say no one will come to you later and thank you and if they should approach you at all it won’t be so satisfying.
