“Christianity entails that God, like any other person, would say and do at least some things we would all see. Since we haven’t seen such things, the Christian theory is falsified by the evidence. Christianity also entails that God would have made the universe differently than we observe it to be. So it is falsified again by the evidence. A failed prediction means a failed theory, especially when these failures apply to the very design of the universe itself. At the same time, there is insufficient evidence for any of the essential propositions of Christianity. So the Christian hypothesis contradicts a lot of evidence, makes numerous failed predictions, is not the best explanation of the universe we find ourselves in, and fails to find sufficient evidence in its own support. Therefore, I believe Christianity is false”.

The Words of a Christian

Tell me that some of these very same questions or doubts haven’t entered your own mind (It has mine). As you attempt to understand and develop your faith, you are sometimes put in the position of defending your beliefs to friends or family, and when we do not have ready answers to the questions presented both we and the questioner part a little unsettled. Are we able to answer many of the positions or questions put forth by  As God asked Job “where were you when…?” Just as God could ask us, where were we, when…? The answer to Mr. Carrier lies in the arenas of faith, hope, and trust in a God and in his son Jesus Christ who informs us that when we have seen him we have seen the Father. But is this enough? We could reference Romans Chapter 1: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;  Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

The ultimate answer I believe lies in the defeat of the limited flesh to reach a point of likeness to Jesus. We can look at all the ills of the world and wonder why God doesn’t do something and we are certainly at a loss to explain why he doesn’t to an Unbeliever. So when we answer with the implication “that a Christian just hopes in an invisible God to work things out”, this is to the casual observer or nonbeliever an inadequate answer and short of anything definitive. It does very little good for a Believer to say to a non-believer when asked to prove a point of reference by saying, “I can’t, and I just believe the “Word”. Christians I believe are often in that place of observation, only hearing about the Lord and not too keen to the effort required of becoming and doing what Jesus said should be accomplished by those who believe. We are to be faith, we are to be love we are to be Christ. We are to not sit back and live on the peripheral with a limited socially acceptable “Norm”. Rather; we are to be walking, living examples of the King acting in his stead doing the things he did. That is the big breakdown in Christianity and Christians in particular for how can a non-believer distinguish the wonder of God when for all intent and purposes we look and act just like everyone else? We are to be empowered by his Spirit and actually serve the needy, heal the sick and loan to the poor. And I venture most would say that is true but the actual accomplishment of such things in our present state seem miles apart. There is a road to be traveled and it seems long and there are many obstacles in the way and fraught with perceived dangers and we are not so sure we can make it. One thing I am absolutely certain of is that it will take a death to the flesh. Then, both you and I can answer the above atheist by example and not speculation for as we note in the Psalms, “the fool says in his heart, “There is no God”. An atheist has eyes to see but does not see and ears to hear but does not hear because he looks with the flesh and reasons in the flesh and he cannot perceive the things that are Spirit. He has no way of knowing in this state of being that the Temple of God is within a man and that the God he cannot find resides there or that scripture asks, “O Lord who shall sojourn in your tent’? “And who shall dwell on your ‘holy hill”? And as King David often spoke unto God, in you “I take refuge”. And as a baby inverts or turns in its position in a Mother’s womb prior to birth so too must a man invert or turn from his previous position to reappear from the spiritual womb with Jesus as the new head (or mind promised) and we are his body whose new heart is pulsing the rhythm of God and I have found true meaning of repentance (in the turning), and my new name has been discovered as well. This is why an atheist, will never comprehend the things of God or to know his Son Jesus Christ to which he subjected all things.

Well Soul what do you think? For one Mr. Spirit, I see that our Limited Partnership has been purchased by the Blood of Christ and that the third person, the Holy Spirit has become Senior Partner and the three of us have become one. That is profound my soulish kind of friend makes me proud to have known you. That sounds a little past tense Spiritual Man like maybe I’m going away or something. I think both of us are going away but to join a better firm with greater opportunity. So when we join this new firm do we lose all identity and fade away among the many? In the former sense yes we do fade away and as we are absorbed into this new firm our former identity is laid to rest to reemerge in this new company as full partners with the Founder. Kind of sounds like a death doesn’t it Spirit Man?  Yeah it does and I think it is a death but yet it is life. Are you prepared for that eventuality Old Mind of mine I think yes, finally, I think yes. I must say however, that I as of yet do not see all of the ramifications of such an event but like Jesus I believe the Father will raise us up again to die no more. Just maybe this is the true definition of faith for truly this is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of which is not yet seen, and maybe this is why All Christians should die at least twice. And as the two of us die is that not another definition of dying twice? Amen and Amen.
